Frequently asked questions

The Drainage collection brings together products used to manage subsurface water on civil, landscaping and construction sites, including drainage cells for green roofs and podiums, geotextile filter fabric, agricultural (Ag) pipe with filter socks, and dewatering geobags. It also includes weed mat and Grasspave cells for combined drainage and ground-cover applications.

These products are typically specified by civil contractors, landscapers and builders to direct water away from structures, stabilise sub-base layers, or filter sediment out of site runoff before discharge.

What's included:

  • Drainage cells: Nero Drainage Cell (20mm and 30mm) and Nero Pave Grasspave cells for podium decks, green roofs and trafficable grassed areas.
  • Geotextile fabric: Geotextile Filter Fabric (AS140) in 1m x 50m rolls for separation and filtration beneath drainage layers.
  • Ag pipe with filter sock: slotted drainage pipe pre-fitted with a filter sock, available in 65mm and 100mm diameters and multiple roll lengths, Class 400.
  • Sediment and dewatering control: Geobag Dewatering Bags for filtering water from excavations, plus heavy duty weed mat and nipple board roll with filter fabric.

Use cases:

  • Civil contractors: installing subsurface drainage behind retaining walls and under pavements using Ag pipe and geotextile fabric.
  • Landscapers and builders: fitting drainage cells beneath podiums, green roofs and trafficable grassed areas.
  • Site managers: managing sediment-laden water from excavations with dewatering geobags before it reaches stormwater systems.

FAQs

What is the difference between drainage cell and Grasspave products?
Both create a void space for drainage or root growth beneath a surface. The standard Nero Drainage Cell is typically used under paving or podium finishes, while Grasspave cells are designed to support a grassed, trafficable surface over the drainage layer.

What is Ag pipe with a filter sock used for?
Ag (agricultural) pipe is slotted or perforated pipe used to collect and carry subsurface water; the filter sock wraps the pipe to stop soil and sediment entering and blocking the slots.

Does the geotextile fabric meet an Australian standard?
The Geotextile Filter Fabric in this range is listed as AS140, referencing its classification for filtration performance. Confirm the specific test class required for your project against the relevant civil or geotechnical specification.

What are dewatering geobags used for?
Geobags are used to filter sediment-laden water pumped from excavations, trenches or ponds, retaining solids inside the bag while allowing filtered water to discharge, helping manage sediment and erosion control obligations on site.
