Tactile Indicator Stud - Stainless Steel Screw Fix | Screw Included

A 316 stainless stud with a mechanical screw fixing rather than an adhesive-set stem. The screw is supplied with each stud.

Fixing: mechanical. The stud fixes down with a screw into a plug or directly into the substrate depending on the material. This matters where an adhesive bond can't be relied on — timber decking and boardwalks, steel plate and checker plate, composite decking, and any substrate that moves seasonally or where you can't guarantee a clean, dry bonding surface at the time of install.

Why specify mechanical: an adhesive bed needs a clean substrate, a controlled temperature and a cure window before the area can reopen. On a live site in the rain, none of those are guaranteed. A screw fixing goes down and takes traffic immediately, and it can be removed and replaced individually without disturbing the studs around it.

Contrast: bright stainless head — the same considerations as the standard stainless stud. Strong against dark substrates, weaker against pale ones.

How many do you need? Tactile indicator studs are installed at 400 units per square metre. A 12.5m² hazard field needs 5,000 studs. Measure the area to be treated, multiply by 400, and add 2–3% for wastage and breakage on site.
