How many middle pieces do I need?

A speed cushion is built from two end pieces plus one or more middle pieces, depending on your finished width. Call us on 1300 291 700 and we'll spec the configuration for your road — we do this for councils weekly.

Do I need council approval to install one?

On a public road, yes — traffic calming devices require approval from the relevant road authority. On private property such as carparks, depots and private estates you generally don't. Check with your local council before ordering if the road is public.

How is it fixed down, and what happens if it works loose?

Six fixings per piece — one pack. Choose concrete or asphalt to match your substrate. Cushions working loose is almost always a wrong-fixing or under-torqued-fixing issue rather than a product fault, so match the fixing to the surface and check the bolts periodically.

Can I install it myself?

Yes on private property — it's a drill-and-bolt job. On a public road you'll need traffic control and council approval. We also offer installation; see our Installation page.

Is it suitable for asphalt as well as concrete?

Yes, with the correct fixings. Select asphalt fixings above.

Are fixings included?

No. Fixings are sold separately — one 6-piece pack per cushion piece, in concrete or asphalt.

This middle piece is the modular building block. It butts flush to our end pieces and to adjacent middle pieces, so a finished cushion sits as one continuous unit. Individual pieces can be replaced without pulling up the whole installation — useful when one section takes damage.
